Investing.com– U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday issued a dire warning against Iran over the ongoing conflict with Israel, while stating that Tehran should have signed a nuclear deal with the United States.
“Iran should have signed the “deal” I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON,” Trump said in a social media post.
“Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!.”
Trump’s comments come after Israel and Iran engaged in some of their worst fighting in over 30 years, after Jerusalem attacked Tehran late last week.
Israel targeted several nuclear sites in Iran, prompting bitter retaliation from the Islamic republic. Iranian missiles were seen striking several major targets in Israel, including financial capital Tel Aviv.
Trump had earlier claimed that his administration was working on brokering a ceasefire between the two countries, although the conflict showed few signs of deescalating. Reuters reported that Iran had reached out to the Gulf countries to push the U.S. into pressuring Israel into a ceasefire.
Trump has consistently opposed Iran’s nuclear ambitions, recently stating that the country will not be allowed to enrich any uranium. Tehran had balked at his claims.
